Mrs. Signa Tovson passed away on Saturday Nov. 8th, 1913, at her home in Springfield township, death being due to chronic nephritis of several weeks’ duration. The deceased was born in Norway on June 18, 1829, therefore being at the time of her death aged 85 years, 5 months and eight days. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1871. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Knute, Wenzel and Swen of near Ossian and Mrs. Ole Orvella of near Decorah and Mrs. Lars Toersdall of Platt, S. D., and sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was a good and kind neighbor and liked by all who knew her. She had many friends who assembled to pay their last respects to an old and highly esteemed neighbor. Interment was made in the Washington Prairie cemetery besides her husband, Rev. Koren officiating. Those who bore her to her last resting place were B. O. Benson, S. M. Ness, Knut Anderson, John Brown, John Thorson and Ole Moe. May she rest in peace.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows Mrs. Ole Orvella’s mother was Signe K. Gjottil. The dates of birth and death agree.
