Later, he enjoyed his grandchildren and later their sporting events, Sunday drives, gambling, daily crossword puzzles, and making homemade wine with friends. He loved watching his grandson, Carson, play Iowa State football and followed him to the Liberty Bowl. He also was an avid Hawkeye fan who attended numerous basketball games and a bowl game in Miami. His latest love was watching the Iowa women’s basketball team, especially Caitlin Clark.

He is survived by his wife Alice, of 57 years. Three children: Sherri (Ernie) Lensing, Fort Atkinson, Russell Hageman of Fort Atkinson, and Darrell (Jessica)Hageman of Rochester, MN.
