THE SILENT REAPER.
Four Old Residents of Winneshiek Called to Their Reward The Past Week.

On Thursday last at the residence of Mrs. H. P. Johnson, where he has made his home for several years, O. N. Bagne passed away after an illness of about nine weeks, death being due to paralysis. He had been in failing health for several years prior to being stricken. The funeral was held Monday from the First Lutheran church and burial was made {i}n the Norwegian cemetery. Orian Nilsen Bagne was born in 1838 in Ulriks Prestegjeld, Hardanger, Norway. He came to America in boyhood and the greater part of his life since then has been lived in Wisconsin and Iowa. He was a shoemaker by trade, working at Madison for several years before coming to Decorah in 1870. In his earlier days he was a man of considerable activity in the affairs of his countrymen and enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a host of acquaintances throughout this section. He was a particular friend of many of the students of Luther College, who will learn with regret of the passing. He is survived by one sister, residing in Wisconsin, and his nieces and nephews, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Franklin Sampson of Decorah, and John Olson and Nels Holkesvik of Canoe township.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born April 6, 1838 and died July 24, 1913. He is buried in the Lutheran Decorah Cemetery.
