At Rest After Long Illness.
At two o’clock last Friday, May 16, after an illness of two years, Cora Belle White, wife of E. H. White, died at the family home at 704 Mechanic street. Death was due to a complication of ailments superinduced by enlargement of the spleen. During the greater part of the past year she was confined to her home and her bed, and though she was a great sufferer she bore up bravely and cheerfully. During her residence in Decorah Mrs. White became allied with the Helping Hand society and up to the time of her illness was one of its earnest workers, ever ready to render assistance, and was a kind and helpful neighbor as well as a devoted wife and mother.
Cora Belle Elder was born May 17, 1862, in Boston. She was married to E. H. White in 1888 and prior to their residence here they made their home in Fayette county for a number of years. Of eight children born to them six survive. They are Mrs. B. F. Kimball of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Fred Fortney residing in California, Charles White of Eldorado, Mrs. E. D. Wood, Earl and Hazel of Decorah. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:15 o’clock at the home and burial was made in the Phelps cemetery. Rev. O. E. Schmidt officiated, being assisted by Rev. Orlando Ingvoldstad.
