OBITUARY.
BARNEY ARNESON
News came to Decorah last week that Barney Arneson, for many years a well known resident of Freeport, had died on April 9th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. D. Mason, at Elmo, Montana, death being due to heart trouble.
Mr. Arneson was born February 12, 1845, in Grinderdalen, Norway, coming to America in 1861. He resided for a time in Chicago but later came to Decorah. In 1873 he was married to Cecelia Johnson and located in Freeport, where the family home remained until five years ago when they moved to Montana. Four children were born to them and all, with their mother, are living. They are Thos. Arneson of Kalispel, Mont., Mrs. R. D. Mason of Elmo, Mont., Mrs. Harry Dial of Canora, Sask., and Mrs. Walter Gross of Decorah. Mr. Arneson was a stone mason by trade and possessed the friendship of many in this vicinity. He was known as a good citizen and a kind and loving husband and father. During his residence here he was a member of the United Lutheran church. The funeral was held at Kalispel, Rev. Ohnerheim officiating, and interment was made in the Conrad cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name as Bernt and that he died April 10, 1913. He is buried in the Conrad Cemetery in Kalispell, MT.
