George Allen was born at Rockford, Ill., Dec. 9, 1846. Was married to Osa{sic} A. Green, Feb. 2, 1868. Of this union one son, Ward, was born, who together with his mother, survive the deceased. Mr. Allen was always active in business and accumulated a competence. For many years he was a prominent stockman in this vicinity. Early in the War of the Rebellion he enlisted in Co. K., 1st Iowa Cavalry, and served until the close of the war. He served several terms as a member of the board of county supervisors. The funeral occurred from the M. E. church, the Rev. Tipton officiating. The body was interred in the Bloomfield cemetery. A large audience of neighbors and friends assembled to pay their last respects to the deceased.
