OBITUARY.
GULBRAND JOHNSON (JENSRUD).
On Tuesday, May 14th, at his home in the fourth ward, Gulbrand Johnson (Jensrud) passed away after an illness of several years from rheumatism. During the last year he was confined to his bed, always patient in his suffering but ready to respond to the final call.
Mr. Johnson was born in Sondre Aurdal, Valders, Norway July 31, 1835, and there grew to manhood. In 1871 he came to America and for four years resided in Franklin county, Iowa. He returned to Norway in 1875 and remained there until 1882, when he married Marit Nilsdatter Hedalen in Ostre Slidre. They came to America soon after their marriage and took up their residence in Franklin county, In 188(?) they moved to Decorah and here they have since made their home. Three children were born to them. One daughter died in infancy, leaving the daughter Louise and son John to join their mother in mourning the loss of a devoted husband and father. Mr. Johnson is also survived by one brother and two sisters in America—Iver Johnson of Lanesboro, Mrs. C. E. Reierson of Hampton and Mrs. Carrie Olden of Minneapolis—and two brothers in Norway,--John and Anders Johnson. Iver Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Thompson also of Lanesboro, were present at the funeral which was held Saturday afternoon last prayer at the house at two o’clock preceding the service at the church at 2:30. Rev. I. B. Torrison officiated.
Mr. Johnson was a tailor by trade; which he followed until illness compelled him to give it up. While he has not been able to associate with his friends of late years, many remember him as a man of kindly disposition and join in extending condolence to his family.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Lutheran Decorah Cemetery.
