The angel of death entered the home of A. J. Soukup last week Tuesday and took from the fireside the loving wife and mother who had been a patient sufferer for some time with tuberculosis. The remains were taken to Spillville on Saturday, followed by a large circle of friends and relatives, and the remains interred in the Catholic cemetery nearby. The stricken family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.

Mrs. Albert Soukup passed away at her home near Ridgeway Wednesday May 15th, 1912. She ailed for quite a length of time and at the time of her death was about 50 years of age. The deceased was known by everyone to be a very kind-hearted person and a loving mother and wife. The funeral took place Saturday at 10 o’clock at the St. Wenceslaus church. Rev. Broz performing the obsequies. The St. Ann and the men societies were to meet the remains of their deceased sister and also escorted her to her last resting place. The floral tribute was beautiful. The pall bearers were John and Jos. Benesh, Wenzel and Mike Bena, Frank Benda, Sr., and Fr. Kovarik, Anton Balik being the funeral director. She leaves to mourn five daughters and three sons and a husband. The funeral was very largely attended. Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Marie. She was born Feb. 1, 1864 and is buried in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.
