OBITUARY.
M. B. OUSLEY
On Monday evening last, May 6th, at 6:40 o’clock, M. B. Ousley died at his home on River street after an illness of some duration from an affection of the kidneys.
Micojah B. Ousley was born on August 23, 1827, in Warren county, Mo., where he grew to manhood. In 1846 he moved to Wisconsin, where he made his home until early in the seventies when he came to Decorah to reside. He ws married on August 13, 1852, to Amanda S. Day, who, with their son Manley of Austin, Minn., and their daughter Orlena, (Mrs. A. J. Francisco) of Bellevue, Iowa, survive. Four children died in infancy in Wisconsin and their son Walter passed away in 1901.
Herring’s division, 14th Corps, Army of the Cumberland. The regiment arrived at St. Louis on August 31, 1862, and was quartered at Benton barracks. While unloading baggage he sustained a fracture of one of his hips and was taken to the hospital at Raleigh, Mo. On becoming convalescent he was assigned to duty as assistant to the surgeon—in the capacity as nurse—and was honorably discharged on January 20, 1863.
During his residence here Mr. Ousley has made many acquaintances who respected him as a good citizen, and who join in extending condolence to his wife and family.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the house Rev. M. Wilett officiating, and interment was made in Phelps cemetery. There were present from out of town to attend the funeral, Mr. and Mrs. M. Ousley of Austin, Mrs. Francisco of Bellevue, J. N. Day of Mt. Hope, Wis., and Louis Beitler of Bloomington, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Dixson, Presho, N. D.
