Brought Home for Burial.
Ole M. Anderson, brother of George M. Anderson of Frankville township, died at Forest City, Iowa, last Saturday February 25. The remains were brought to Decorah by his nephew, Harry Hanson and the interment took place Monday, the 27th, at the Washington Prairie cemetery. Ole at the time of his death was 59 years, 4 months and 14 days old. The cause of his death was chronic nephritis. He was born in Norway and came to America with his parents in 1852 and settled on Washington Prairie until he grew to manhood. He came to Decorah and entered the employ of O. A. Nelson as a clerk, which position he held for a number of years and then went to Chicago and went on the road selling hats. As a traveling man he was successful. He had no idea of sickness until fourteen years ago when desiring life insurance, he was upon examination rejected because of kidney troubles. He began treatment and for a time thought he had overcome the trouble but the disease had fastened itself upon him and he found he had to give up the strenuous life of the road. He came to Decorah about four years ago and opened a gent’s furnishing store. This did not prove profitable and he retired and returned to Chicago and again went on the road, but soon had to give it up. He returned to Winneshiek county and for some months resided with Geo. M. Anderson on Washington Prairie. Later he went to Forest City and patiently awaited the final summons he knew was soon coming. Ole was of a whole-souled, pleasant disposition, just the kind of a man who always made friends and retained them. He never was married.
