Died from His Injury.
Carl Moen who was injured last week, as noticed in the REPUBLICAN, died Sunday afternoon. The middle finger was badly crushed but was not amputated because it was hoped it could be saved. Saturday it became very painful and Dr. Kiesau was called who, with another doctor operated on the hand, but it was too late. Blood poisoning set in and later lockjaw came and he died in great agony.

We are this week called upon to perform the sad duty of reporting the death of one of our brightest young men—Carl Moen, who passed away Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. On Monday, Feb. 20th, he had the misfortune to get his hand in some gearing on his gasoline engine while sawing woods, and one finger was almost torn off and the others badly bruised. Dr. Kiesau from Frankville was called and he dressed the wounds and the patient seemed to be getting along pretty well or as well as could be expected, but on Friday night, a sudden change came and lockjaw set in. He suffered something awful. Three doctors were called, but nothing could be done to relieve his pains nor save his life. Carl was of a cheery disposition and well liked by his companions. He was a member of “Gauken,” of Nasset, and also of the church choir and the young people’s society. He laeves{sic} to mourn his death his father, mother, two sisters and five brothers, besides a host of friends and relatives. Our sincere sympathy is extended to this grief stricken family. The funeral will take place on Wednesday.

Transcriber’s Note: His name on his gravestone in Glenwood Lutheran is Eggemoen. He was born April 13, 1885 and died Feb. 26. 1911.
