WOMAN BADLY FROSTED.
Mrs. John Scott of Calmar is Found on the Floor Badly Frozen.
Mrs. John Scott, an old resident of Calmar, widow of John Scott, once a prominent citizen, was found one cold morning last week in her home badly frosted.
Noticing no life about the place Mrs. Bauer, a neighbor, went over to investigate, and knocking several times received no response and the door was forced. Mrs. Scott was found on the floor insensible. Help was called and she was removed across the street to the home of Mr. Dyrland and Dr. Hennessey called. Upon his arrival it was found she was badly frosted about the limbs. The day previous she had been troubled with nose bleed and in the night got up to fix the fire and must have fainted, and the fire going out she became helpless and benumbed and unable to help herself. There was plenty of fuel in the house also bed clothing, all that was necessary for keeping comfortable. For several days she lay in a comatose condition, so it is impossible to learn just now the calamity occurred.
The physicians finally determined that Mrs. Scott was the victim of an apoplectic stroke that left her entirely helpless. Only the slightest hopes are entertained for her recovery.
