FOUND DEAD.
A Citizen of Ossian is Found Dead in Bed in the Morning.
James L. Powers was found dead in bed at the home of his mother in Ossian Monday at about the noon hour. He retired at the usual hour Sunday evening, but complained of having pains in his heart. Nothing was thought of the complaint, however, Mr. powers having been subject to heart affliction, and believing it to be but a slight attack repaired to his bed. He was not an early riser, and when dinner was ready to serve his mother called him, and on receiving no response, she went to his room. She was horrified to find him cold in death. Dr. Juen was immediately summoned, and he declared that death had taken place at least three hours previously, as rigor mortis had already set in.
He was born June 9, 1869, south of Castalia, in Bloomfield township, Winneshiek county. He was never married, and leaves one brother, Fred, of Rochester, Minn., and his aged mother, of Ossian.
Funeral was held yesterday (Wednesday morning, January 11). At St. Francis de Sales Catholic church, Rev. M. J. Thiltgen, D. D., performing the ceremony.
