OBITUARY.
Knut K. Neste, whose death was mentioned in last week’s REPUBLICAN, was born on September 6, 1838, in Vestre Slidre, Valders, Norway. When his parents came to this country in the early fifties he accompanied them. Their first home was in Dane county, Wis., but they later moved to Iowa, settling in Madison township, this county, where Mr. Neste has since resided. The deceased was married to Gro Tostenson Hagejordet in 1871. Seven children were born to them—four sons and three daughters. Mrs. Neste passed away in 1902.
Early last spring Mr. Neste went to Norway for a visit. In boarding the train at Calmar he sustained injuries from which he suffered during his entire absence. On his return in September he was feeling so badly that he did not attempt to go to his home, but was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frettheim, in Decorah, where his death occurred.
The funeral was held at the West Union Prairie church last Saturday morning at eleven o’clock, and the remains were interred in the Haugen cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Union Prairie Cemetery.
