TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO.
Items Taken from the Republican Under Date of January 7, 1886.
This forenoon a terrible accident occurred in West Decorah by which the twelve year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Linville was literally burned to death. The girl is a cripple and her mother at the time was absent to a neighbor’s and upon her return found the girl lying on the floor with the upper part of her body, face and hair burned to a crisp. How it occurred can not be learned.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Ella. She was born in 1875 and died Jan. 8, 1886. She is buried in the Phelps Cemetery.
