Norma was born April 3, 1942, in Postville, Iowa to her parents Theodore and Irene (Meyer) Feickert. Norma was baptized and confirmed at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church. She attended country school in Nordness and then graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1960.

During her senior year, she met the love of her life, Wayne Hemry, at the Arts Roller Rink in Ossian. On January 14, 1961, Norma and Wayne joined their lives together in marriage at the Washington Prairie Church. To this beautiful union four children were born: Terry, Stacy, Brenda, and Rodney.

Norma worked a short time after graduating high school at the Decorah State Bank. She also worked for Aase Haugen Nursing home for about a year and did day care for a couple families while she was raising her own children. Norma began a long career at the Ossian State bank from 1972-2000, and then worked at the Miss Marquette Casino until she retired in 2004.

Norma’s greatest pride was the family she raised, often holding down the home front while Wayne was on the road with his job. Norma and Wayne enjoyed being snowbirds to Arizona in the winter, and rarely missed watching an Iowa Hawkeyes football or basketball game, GO HAWKS!

Norma was a member of the Ossian Lutheran Church.

About a week prior to Norma passing, her family made her Mother’s Day request come true in having the whole family come together. She expressed great gratitude and joy for this special occasion, a very special memory for the entire family to cherish.

Those left to love and remember Norma’s memory are her husband Wayne of Ossian.
