Katherine Elizabeth (Schroeder) Meyer

Mrs. W. A. Meyer Services Thursday

Funeral services were held here on Thursday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran church for Mrs. W. A. Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Schroeder, and who passed away at her home here Monday morning, March 8, following an illness of some duration.

As Katherine Elizabeth Schroeder, she was born on a farm near Luana on January 19, 1878, and later with her parents moved to a farm near Postville where she grew to womanhood. On April 11, 1899, she was married to William A. Meyer and moved to a farm in Fayette county. In 1901 they moved to a farm near Castalia where she has since resided. In April, 1878, she was baptized in the Lutheran faith and on April 10, 1892, she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Postville.

Seven children were born to this union: Charlotte, Mrs. Alph Olsen of Elkader; Harold of Castalia; Earl of Cedar Rapids; Florence and Leonard living at home, and Mrs. Mabel Blumhagen of Decorah. She is survived by her husband, six children, eleven grandchildren, a brother, John A. Schroeder of Postville, four sisters, Mrs. E. H. Knodt of Rosemont, Minn.; Mrs. Al Gulsvig of St. Olaf; Amelia and Louise Schroeder of Cedar Rapids. Her parents, one son, Wilbert, one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.

She was one of the founders of the Lutheran church here and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid Society. She held various offices in the society and was an active member in the church and society as long as her health permitted. She numbered her friends by her acquaintances.

Burial was made in Postville cemetery with the Rev. C. J. Rebelein in charge of the services.
