On Saturday evening, while a C. M. & St. P. freight train was switching in the yards at this place, Oliver Qualley, living about four miles northeast of town in attempting to cross the railway crossing on Lydia street, was hit by one of thec ars{sic} and instantly killed. The team which he was driving had crossed the track, and the buggy which he occupied was completely wrecked. The two Quien boys were thrown out and escaped death as well as any injury. Whether it was the carelessness of Mr. Qualley or the Ry. Co. is a doubt in the minds of the public. It is indeed a sad loss, and the family have the sympathy of the entire community. The remains were buried in the cemetery south of town, funeral services taking place Tuesday afternoon at the Norwegian Lutheran church.
