JOHN L. KITTLESBY DEAD.
Passed Away Monday at Calmar After Brief Illness from Heart Affliction.
Word came to Decorah Tuesday that John L. Kittlesby and died Monday afternoon at Calmar, where he had recently come from Washington to join his family for his annual vacation from duties at the capitol. We are without the particulars of his illness but his death was due to heart failure following a brief illness.
Mr. Kittlesby was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Kittlesby and was born in 1860{?} in Calmar, where he grew to manhood. In 1885 he was appointed deputy clerk of court under N. H. Nelson and served for six years with capacity and fidelity. He aspired to the principal position in the election of 1890 but was defeated. For several years after he was engaged in various pursuits but for the past ten years he has been in the service of the government of Washington as a member of the capitol police force.
On May 12, 1903, he was married to Anna M. Siewers, who, with one child, survives him. He is also survived by several members of his parental family. The funeral will be held to-day at Calmar with interment beside other members of the family.
In all the relations of life Mr. Kittlesby was an exemplary man. Those who knew him best were his closest friends and warmest admirers, and to them, as well as to his family, his death comes as a painful shock.

John L. Kittlesby who has been holding a position in Washington, D. C., died at his parental home in Calmar, where he was spending his vacation, Monday.

Miss Anna Kittlesby came home from Cedar Falls, where she has been attending summer school on account of her brother’s death. Miss Agnes Kittlesby and Mrs. Lizzie Kittlesby-Ytterboe came down from Northfield and Ed. Kittlesby of Austin are also here.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows his name spelled Kittelsby. His gravestone in Calmar Lutheran Cemetery shows he was born March 28, 1861 and died July 12, 1909
