The funeral of Mrs. Halse was held at the old home on Saturday, conducted by the Episcopal clergyman of Decorah. Burial on the family lot in Burr Oak cemetery.

IN MEMORIAN:--Again has the grim reaper of Death claimed one from our community, who was beloved by all who knew her.--Mrs. Lewis G. Halse, on June 2d. Caroline Marie Leigh was born at Wettrypool Sommersetshire, England. January 16, 1840, and was married to Lewis G. Halse Marach 23, 1860. In the year 1871, in April, they emigrated to this country and settled in Bluffton township, where they have lived ever since. This union was blessed with ten children, of whom eight are living. One son died in infancy, and another son Thomas died about 9 years ago. Mrs. Halse was one of the pioneer mothers of Bluffton township, and a good and kind neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand when called upon. Always ready to administer to those who were in need, and never turned anybody away from her doorstep who applied to her for assistance. Thereby she was held in very high esteem by all who ever came to know her. That she possessed many friends was fully demonstrated on the day of the funeral, acquaintances coming from far and near to pay the last tribute of respect, following her remains to her last resting place. Mrs. Halse was all her life long a faithful member of the Episcopal church. The funeral was held last Saturday from the house, and interment was made in the Burr Oak cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. McVettie, Rector of the Grace Episcopal church in Decorah. Mrs. Halse leaves to mourn her loss her aged husband, four sons and four daughters, and a number of grandchildren. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in the loss of a faithful wife and beloved mother.
