[Calmar Courier.]
Bertha Bagnasen was born in Soquedalen, Norway, December 29, 1836, and in the spring of 1856 came with her parents to America, settling at once in Winneshiek county, Iowa. On October 26, 1856, she was united in marriage with Peter L. Kittlesby, and moved on a farm just south of town, moving a few years later to the farm between Calmar and Ossian where she lived until a few years ago when her husband retired from farm work and moved to Calmar, to enjoy the remaining years at ease.
Of this union ten children were born, eight of whom are living: Randy, Mrs. J. J. Stenseth, Mrs. L. A. Wangsness, Lauritz, Mrs. E. J. Onstad, Anton, Sigurt, and Paul, all of whom were present at the funeral except Anton. Anna Olava died at the age of 5 years, and Mrs. G. A. Hegg, the other one who is dead, departed more recently.
Monday, May 17, 1908, the angel of death claimed Mrs. Kittlesby. She was a lady of most excellent qualities, a kind and considerate wife and mother, who will be greatly missed by the bereaved husband and children.
She was placed in her final resting place in the Lutheran cemetery Wednesday, May 19, Rev. Paul Koren preaching the funeral sermon.
