OBITUARIES.
[From Canute, Okla., paper.]
Again the Angel of Death visited our community and claimed one of our most loved and respected friends and neighbors, Mrs. Rebecca Catherine Baumwart.
Rebecca Catharine Duff was born near Ossian, Iowa, Oct. 3, 1859. March 26th, 1885, she was married to Arthur C. Baumwart at Decorah, Iowa. In the year 1887 they moved to Little Turkey, Iowa. In 1900 they came to Oklahoma and took up the homestead where they now reside
She died May 7, 1909, at 7 o’clock a. m. with an attack of quinsy. She leaves a husband, two children and a host of friends to mourn her departure. The children are Mrs. Fletcher Smallwood of Canute and Lloyd Baumwart, still at home.
Aunt Kate, as she was almost always called was one of the best hearted women we ever knew. She was a friend in need and in trouble, sickness or death she was always there with her help and sympathy. She was converted to the Christian Science faith by being permanently healed of a disease that baffled the skill of the physician.
Funeral services were held at the home, Rev. W. A. Randle officiating. Interment at Canute cemetery.
