Frankville loses another of her old residents in the passing away of Mrs. Todd, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Birdsell, March 16, 1909, of pulmonary tuberculosis. Phoebe{sp} Jane Countryman was born at Liberty New York, July 29, 1841, was united in marriage May 1{?}, 1859, with Luke Todd of Dubuque, who passed from this life Jan. 6, 1890. Early in life she united with the M. E. church of Frankville. For the past two years she has been a great sufferer, part of the time being confined to her bud but now she is at rest away from all sorrow and pain. As a king and loving mother, a considerate friend and neighbor she will be missed for her life was gentle, but like still water it was deep, in her heart of hearts she carried those she loved and her hand was never weary, her step never failed in caring for those who were in any way dependent upon her. She leaves to mourn their loss one son, John, of Ossian, and two daughters, Mrs. T. E. Waters of Estherville and Mrs. Roy Birdsell of Ossian, a number of grandchildren and a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. Gregg, and she was laid to rest in the village cemetery by the side of her husband. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones in their affliction.
