ALWIN SANFORD WALBY

Services for Alwin Sanford Walby were held Monday, April 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Yusuke Hidaka officiating.

Mr. Walby passed away at the Americana Nursing Center at Davenport, Iowa on Friday, April 4, 1969 at the age of 79. He had been in poor health for some time.

Alwin was born on a farm in Winneshiek County on February 7, 1890 to Ole and Sophia Sheggrud Walby. He received his education in the same county, and spent his entire life farming in this community.

On August 30, 1917 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Peck. To this union were born four children: two daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. George M. Waters) of Canton, South Dakota, and Doris (Mrs. Lyle E. Ellis) of DeWitt, Iowa; and two sons, Lester of Washington, Iowa, and Leland of Postville.

He is survived by all of his four children, seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four sisters: Gladys (Mrs. I. Kingsbeck) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Sylvia (Mrs. Walter Kneeskern) of Decorah, Evelyn (Mrs. Alfred Bolson) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Esther (Mrs. John Forsblad) of Whitebear Lake, Minnesota; and one brother, Kenneth of Sacramento, California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte, and one brother, George.

Alwin was active in the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church, and served as church treasurer for many years. He also served as a Director of the Frankville Cheese Factory.

Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.
