The funeral of Agnes Hammersland, 74, of West Union, was held at Stavanger church south of Ossian, Sept. 27, 1972. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Paul Meyer of Summer, Iowa. Six grandsons were pallbearers.

She was born near Ossian, Ia. on March 21, 1898, a daughter of the late Ole T. and Anna Lommen.

On March 30, 1920, she was married to Harold M. Hammersland who passed away August 23, 1971. To them were born one son and six daughters, all of whom survive. They are, Ada (Mrs. Arden Boyce) Waterloo, Iowa; Harold Hammersland, Jr. Ossian; Clarice (Mrs. Harold J. Larson) Chaseburg, Wis.; Alice (Mrs Erling Hanson) Emmetsburg, Ia; Sylvia (Mrs. Delbert Belschner) Luana, Ia.; Norma (Mrs. Kenneth Springer) West Union; and Marie (Mrs. Franklin Reyner) West Union. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Olava Hammersland of Decorah.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one brother and four sisters.

She passed away on September 24, 1972, at the Decorah Retirement Center where she had resided six weeks following her release from the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse where she had been a patient for two months.
