James Baburek, retired Calmar road employee, died August 22 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. Funeral services for Mr. Baburek were conducted by the Rev. Marvin Berkeland at Calmar Lutheran Church Friday, Aug. 25. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kermit Halverson, Lloyd Kauffman, Robert Bjonerud, Clarence Thompson, Francis Shimek, Leonard Ruen, Sidney Stenseth and Arnold Erland. Mrs. Kitty Flaskerud was organist, and the floral committee was comprised of Mrs. Warner Gaffney, Mrs. Esther Knutson, Mrs. Carl Westby and Mrs. Daniel Russet.

Funeral arrangements were made by French Funeral Home.

Mr. Baburek is survived by his wife, the former Palma Haugen; a daughter, Mrs. Beauford (Gloria) Chapman of Austin, Minn.; four grandchildren; one brother, Frank Baburek of Calmar and a sister, Miss Anna Baburek of Decorah.

Mr. Baburek was born July 4, 1892. His parents, Joseph Baburek and Maria Zeman Baburek are deceased. He was married in 1933 in Washington Prairie Church.

Mr. Baburek was a member of the Lutheran Church.
