Mrs. Oscar M. Russell passed away last Wednesday, May 31, at her home near Dunning Springs, at the age of 78. Death was caused by complications following an attack of flu, of which she had been suffering about five months. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Catholic church, of which she was a member, with burial in the Catholic cemetery, Father Hogan officiating. Mrs. Russell's sister, Philomen of Kalispell, Mont., was here to see Mrs. Russell before she died.

Margaret Katherine Morton was born January 1, 1855, at Lansing, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Morton who lived on a farm at Lansing Ridge. On August 14, 1877, at the Decorah Catholic church she was married to Oscar M. Russell. Two children, Elizabeth and Albert, preceded Mrs. Russell in death and the following children beside her husband survive: Francis of Decorah, Joseph of Elkader, William, Mary, Nellie Russel Healy and Nicholas at home. She is also survived by her sister, Sister Philomen, of Kalispell, Mont., a granddaughter, Gladys Russell Christenson (daughter of Mr. and Mrs Francis Russell and a great grandson, Russell Christenson, of Independence.

The pallbearers were Willie Williams, Ed Sobolik, James Welch, Larry Keefe, Ole Vold and Henry Lubke. Mrs. Russell came to this county 69 years ago and has spent the entire time here with the exception of four years with the exception of four years in Howard county. She was a kind loving mother and will be greatly missed by her husband and others who are left to mourn her loss.
