Miss Sarah Miller attended the funeral of Mr. Dean at Castalia yesterday.

Myron Dean was born in Canaan, Conn., Oct. 14, 1842, and died at Lake View, Iowa, Sept. 5, 1908. He moved to Iowa in 1853, and located near Castalia, where he lived until five years ago, when he moved to Lake View. In early life he embraced the Christian religion and united with the M. E. church at Castalia. He was one of the first to respond to Pres. Lincoln’s call for troops and remained in the service until peace was restores. He was a member of Co. M., 1st Iowa Cav. He is survived by his wife, two sisters and three brothers. The remains were accompanied here by the wife of the deceased and nephew, Wm. Dean. The funeral was held from the M. E. church Monday at 2 o’clock p. m., the Rev. Smith of Postville officiating. A goodly number of old friends and neighbors attended the funeral to pay their last respects to the dead. The body was interred in the Bloomfield cemetery.
