A life-long Decorah area farmer, Edward Ulen, died November 1 at the Decorah Retirement Center at the age of 85.
Pastor Paul H. Christenson conducted services for Mr. Ulen Saturday morning, Nov. 4 at First Lutheran Church with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Willard Musser, Grant Ingvalson, Lester Ingvalson, Harland Ingvalson, Ervin Ingvalson and Byron Ingvalson. William Kuhlman was organist, and Mrs. George Rowland was soloist. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
A sister, Mrs. Peter Leseth, of Decorah survives.
Mr. Ulen, who had farmed in Decorah Township, also was a rural mail carrier before his retirement.
He was born April 30, 1887 in Decorah, the son of Reier and Bertha Ulen. He attended Decorah Public Schools and Luther College.
He was married in 1909 at Big Canoe Church to Ida C. Grindeland. She died January 6, 1969. Mr. Ulen also was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. He had no children.
Mr. Ulen was a member of First Lutheran Church.
