Death came to the home of Christian Bergeson{sic} in the 5th ward last Sunday and took from it the estimable wife and mother. Caroline Berntsdatter was born in Jernaker, Norway, Oct. 14th, 1832; came to America in 1858, and to Decorah the following years. May 3d, 1862, she married Christian Bergeson{sic}. Though a humble one she made hers a happy home for to it she was devoted, and possessed the qualities that make happiness regardless of rank or wealth. For these reasons she was highly esteemed by all who knew her. After a full span of 75 years she is at rest.
She was stricken with apoplexy last Thursday, and remained unconscious until death came to her release.
Funeral services were held at the home and 1st Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. Laur Larsen conducting the services. A large number of friends and neighbors paid their last respects to the deceased. Floral offerings were profuse.
