Ole Samuelson and Lena, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Birdsell and children, Mrs. Chas. Birdsell and Lloyd and Mrs. Ike Birdsell went to Ossian to-day to attend the funeral of Mrs. Flatland.

Ole Samuelson received word by phone Friday morning that his daughter Mrs. Flatland had been stricken with apoplexy and was not expected to live. He with Miss Lena and Mrs. Grant Birdsell started for Ossian as soon as possible and remained at her bedside until evening, when she passed away. Mrs. Flatland was at one time a resident of Frankville, and has many friends here who regret to learn of her death, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.

The funeral of Mrs. Flatland occurred yesterday (Monday.) She was taken sick suddenly with an attack of the heart on Saturday afternoon, never gaining consciousness, but passed quietly into death’s hands. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters and one son.

Mr. and Mrs. Ole Samuelson and family of Decorah drove through Ravena Monday on their way to attend the funeral of Mrs. Flatland of Ossian. Mrs. Flatland was a sister of Mrs. Samuelson. {I think this in error as Find a Grave shows she was the sister of Mr. Samuelson.}

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Marie and that she was born Sept. 15, 1860 and died July 24, 1908. She is buried in the Stavanger Cemetery.
