Mrs. Julia Burreson, 77, died Sunday, July 18, at the Spring Grove hospital. She had suffered a stroke July 11.

Mrs. Burreson, the former Petra Julia Bjorgan, was born August 5, 1875, in Hesper township, daughter of Ingebret and Kari Nordaune. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

When she was two years old, her father died and she then made her home with an uncle and aunt, Hans and Guri Bjorgan. She attended school in the Kenyon district and Hesper public school.

She was married to Salve Burreson November 8, 1894, by Rev L. Huus of Decorah. Their first home was on a farm near Lime Springs where they resided four years. They then moved to Hesper, where they made their home until Mr. Burreson's death January 25, 1940. Since then she had lived in Mabel.

They were the parents of three children; Mrs. Victor (Jeanette) Berland of Spring Grove; Ovidia, who died in infancy; and Hayes, who died at the age of nine years.

Other survivors include three grandchildren and two sisters: Mrs. Peter J. Ness of Decorah and Mrs Herb Headington of Longview, Wash.

Mrs. Burreson was a lifelong member of the Hesper Lutheran church and was also a member of the Ladies' Aid in which she held offices for many years.
