One of our town’s oldest residents, Mrs. Frank Chitek, passed away at her home here on Sunday, March 8, after an illness of several years. Her death came very unexpectedly, however, as the day before she had yet been up and eaten dinner with the rest of the family. On Saturday evening she fell into a sleep destined to be an eternal one, as she never awoke, and gradually sank until she left this life forever. The deceased was born at Beshichky, Bohemia, Aug. 15, 1830, and in 1852 was married to Frank Chitek. Thirty years ago they came to America, and since then have made their home in Fort Atkinson. Mr. Chitek died about years {?} ago. Five children are left to mourn their mother. They are Joseph of Calmar, Miss Nettie Citek of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Bly Pivec of this place and Mrs. Peter Pivec and Mrs. Voghts of Steuben, Wis. The funeral obsequies were held to-day and interment made at St. John’s cemetery, the children and very many friends following the remains to their last resting place. The hand of sympathy is extended to the sorrowing children by the entire community in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Marie Citek but her gravestone shows she was born in 1844 thus the date of marriage above couldn’t be right. It does show she was married to Frank and it also lists the children as above. It shows Pivet and Vogts as the correct spellings of the children's names
