Mrs. Chladina of Cedar Rapids arrived in this city Saturday to attend the funeral of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Thos. Bakula, and to visit with her sister Mrs. Kolar.

At her home about three miles southwest of town, Friday, occurred the death of Mrs. Thomas Bakula, one of Jackson township’s oldest and most respected residents. The deceased had been very sick for the past several weeks, and was at the time of her death in her sixty-third year. About forty-two years ago she was married to Thomas Bakula, who preceded her in death about three years. Six children—three sons, Joseph, Mike and Frank and three daughters, two living at Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Annie Zeman of Elkton, S. D., are left to mourn the loss of a mother who always held home ties dearer to them. The funeral services were held at St. John’s church at three o’clock Sunday afternoon, and interment made at the cemetery east of town, Rev. John Marshalek officiating. The sympathy of the entire community goes to the bereaved family in their affliction.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Katerina who was born April 26, 1847 and died March 6, 1908. The spelling on her gravestone is Bakule.
