A Springfield Pioneer Gone.
In the death of A. K. Anderson, which occurred last Saturday, Springfield township lost one of its earliest pioneer settlers. Mr. Anderson was born March 17, 1831, in Vang, Valders, Norway, and came to America in 1850, and on June 11th of that year settled on the farm where he died. In 1854 he was married to Julia Holverson. To them sixteen children were born, seven of whom survive. They are Mrs. James Johnson, of Bristol, S. D., Mrs. G. C. Oakes and Mrs. A. J. F. Bowman of Portland, Ore., Mrs. M. Nelson, Kingsbury, Cal., O. J. Anderson, Decorah, Fremont and N. P. Anderson of Ossian. The funeral was held yesterday at the Washington Prairie Methodist church, and the large attendance told plainer than words the respect and esteem the deceased had earned among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
