Svenson, Siglief 1900 - 1975

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12 at Hauge Lutheran Church for Siglief Svenson, 74, of Decorah who died April 9 at the Decorah Retirement Center following a long illness.

Pastor D.D. Thogerson conducted final rites. Burial was in Hauge Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Carl Svenson, David Svenson, Gary Svernson, Richard Svenson, Roswold Helgeson and Kavin Swenson, Mrs. D.D. Thogerson was organist, and arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mr. Svenson was born in Sjoveigen, Norway August 13, 1900 and came to this area at the age of two when the family moved to the United States and settled in Winneshiek County. He was educated in the rural schools and served in World War II. He was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church and the VFW and had been employed with Carlson Construction Co. and also was a carpenter.

Mr. Svernson had never married. He is survived by one brother, Kyrre Swenson of Decorah and three sisters, Mrs. Ben (Amy) Glover of Decorah, Mrs. Al (Inga) Helgeson of New Bedford, Ill. and Mrs. Don (Jennie) Baker of Bluffton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Sverre Svenson, Hjordis Svenson and Mrs. John (Mildred) Sola and his parents, Karl and Nikoline Svenson.
