The Republican reports with sorrow the death of Mrs. C. O. Maltby of Hesper township. The sad event, however, was not unexpected because she had long been an invalid. For particulars and a suitable obituary we are compelled to wait another week.

On Friday a large number of friends and neighbors attended the funeral of Mrs. C. O. Maltby, which was held at the home. In the year that Mrs. Maltby has been a resident in this vicinity she has made many friends and will be sadly missed. It was arranged that the Hesper correspondent should furnish the obituary.

Mrs. C. O. Maltby who has been in poor health the past six years, and a patient sufferer for several months, was relieved from pain on the morning of the 15th. On account of ill health Mrs. Maltby never took an active part in social gatherings, but all who knew her held her in high regard. The funeral was held at the residence on the 17th, Rev. H. H. Green, D. D. officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Mary who was born in 1838 and is buried in the Phelps Cemetery.
