William M. Stenseth, retired farmer and well known Calmar area man, died Monday, March 3 in the hospital at Decorah where he had been a patient for a week. Mr. Stenseth, who had been ill for about a month, was 86 years old.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Springfield Lutheran church by the Rev. Marvin A. Berkeland. Burial was in the Calmar Lutheran cemetery with the following men serving as pallbearers: Reuben Hinker, Wilfred Klein, Carl Nystrom, Raymond Bullerman, Roger Fjelstul and James Slebiska.

Military rites were performed by members of Halverson-Giesen post.

A life-long resident of the area, William M. Stenseth was born at Calmar January 25, 1889, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stenseth. He spent his entire life at Calmar with the exception of the time he served in the Army during World War I.

In 1919 he married Miss Marvel Stovern, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Sydney Stenseth and William Stenseth, jr., both of Calmar, one brother, Edwin Stenseth of Rock Hill, S.C., and five grandchildren.
