Oscar I. Saxvik, 51, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died September 13 in St. Petersburg. Funeral services were hled Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Steine Funeral Home with burial in the Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Emil C. Martinson conducted the final rites.
Pallbearers were George Bidne, Jerome Kroshus, Forrest Kroshus, Ragnvold Peterson, Sophus Stoen and Denton Marsh. Mrs. Ramsome Bolson was organist. Marlin Fretheim was soloist.
Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
Mr. Saxvik was born May 2, 1921 in Decorah, the son of the late Gilbert and Amanda Saxvik. He received his education in the Decorah Public Schools and served with the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne, during World War II. He has lived in Decorah, Wisconsin, and the past five years in Florida.
He is survived by a son, Kyle Saxvik of Kent, Wash., three brothers, Robert Saxvik of Burley, Idaho, Harold Fretheim of Ross, N.D. and Gerhard Fretheim of Sutherland, Ore.; a sister, Mrs William Watson of Anacortes, Wash. and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Donna Saxvik of Brewster, Ohio.
