DEATH OF FESTINA CITIZEN.

Michael Schneeberger, a Resident of Winneshiek County Since 1854.
Michael Schneeberger was born in Bavaria, Germany, September 20, 1828, and died at his home in Festina, Iowa, June 15, 1906, aged 77 years, 8 months and 16 days. His remains were interred in the beautiful cemetery at Festina Sunday, June 17, in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends who came to pay their best tribute of respect to one whom they loved and respected. Rev. Father Rubley performed the ceremony. Jos. Chekal, funeral director of Fort Atkinson, had charge of the funeral.
The deceased came to Iowa in 1854, locating in Winneshiek county, where he has resided ever since. We were not supplied with the data as to his marriage, however, seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schneeberger—two daughters and five sons—two of whom died very young. Of the elder son, John, nothing can be said, his whereabouts not being known and it is not known whether he is alive or dead. Mrs. Moser, the elder daughter, died four years ago. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Chris, Joseph and Thomas, all of whom reside at Festina besides 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
In the passing away of Michael Schneeberger Winneshiek county loses another of its pioneer citizens. He was a good neighbor, a faithful husband and a kind father—Ossian Bee.
