Olson, Selmer O. 1895 - 1973

A native of Madison Township, Selmer O. Olson died June 5 at Anaheim, Calif. at the age of 77. Mr. Olson had owned and operated a restaurant in Baraboo, Wis. since 1943 and had lived in California the past year.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Decorah with burial in the church cemetery. Father A.P. White conducted the funeral mass. Pallbearers were Luke Courtney, Donald Casey, Frank O'Brien, Allard Vick, Lloyd Larson and Harold Cronin. Alan Sensor was organist and Marlin Fretheim was soloist. Funeral arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mr. Olson was born July 3, 1895 in Madison Township, the son of Thomas and Mary Olson. He attended rural schools here and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was married June 30, 1925 in Bluffton to the former Annetta C. O'Brien. She died December 7, 1966.

He is survived by a son, Earl Olson of Madison, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Chester (Shirley) Duke, Anaheim, Calif. and Mrs. Edward (Ethel) Barnes, Forsythe, Mo.; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Theo. Moen, Cresco, Ia.

Mr. Olson was a member of St. Benedicts Church.
