HENNING, LIEN, SCHLACHTENHAUFEN, MULCAHEY

A well-known Decorah businessman, Lloyd S. Henning of Locust Road, Decorah, died September 11 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was 57 years of age. Mr. Henning was D-X distributor for 27 years in the Decorah area and former owner of Henning's D-X station in Decorah.

Funeral services are being held today (Thursday) at 1 o'clock at the Decorah Lutheran Church. Pastor Alden H. Hovda will conduct final rites. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be George W. Smith, Alvin Gipp, Melbourne Faldet, Bernell Ramlo, Edwin Roed and Kenneth Galloway. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mervin Newhouse, Burt Henning, Milo Harvey and Arthur Blegen.

Mrs. Otto Ruen will provide organ accompaniment for hymns to be sung by the congregation. Funeral arrangements are being made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mr. Henning is survived by his wife, Marie, three sons and a daughter, Phil Henning, Marshalltown, Ia., Mrs. Phil (Linda) Schlachtenhaufen, Fridley, Minn., Steven Henning and Brian Henning, both of Decorah; two grandchildren; a brother, Leland Henning, Crystal Beach, Ontario, Canada and a sister, Mrs. Paul Mulcahey, Rochester, Minn.

Lloyd S. Henning was born in Cresco August 29, 1916, the son of the late Louis and Edna Henning. He attended Cresco Public Schools and served six years with the United States Navy in World War II. He was married March 10, 1945 in Madison, Wis. to the former Marie Lien.

Mr. Henning was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church, the Elks Lodge and the VFW.
