Gustave Adolph Halverson, 84, of Ossian, died December 22 at the Winneshiek Memorial Hospital after a two weeks illness. Funeral services were held at the Springfield Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Dec. 26 with the Rev. M. Berkeland as officiating clergyman. Christy Lien was organist. Pallbearers were Edward Hogenson, Decorah, Elmer Hogenson, Decorah, John Bohr, Ossian, Lloyd Bergan, Ridgeway, Elmer Peterson and Vernon Johnson of Decorah.

Schmitz Funeral Home in Ossian was in charge of arrangements.

Gustave A. Halverson was born October 22, 1888 in Winneshiek County to Gertrude and Tom Halverson of Calmar. He received his education in the Winneshiek County schools and served in World War I from May 1918 to June 1919 - Co. B-337. He farmed north of Ossian until 5 years ago when he moved to Ossian and also hauled cream in the area for more than 40 years. He was a member of Springfield Lutheran Church and charter member of Brockman Hammmersland Post 503 of the American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister. Anna Hogenson, who died in January 1972. He is survived by two brothers, Halver Halverson of Kidder, S.D. and Ole Halverson of Ossian; one sister, Alma Tollefson, and 16 nieces and nephews.
