A well-known Decorah man, Lars Seim of 107 Rural Ave. died October 8 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. A long-time resident of Decorah, Mr. Seim was a carpenter-contractor in Decorah home construction.

Funeral services are being held today (Thursday, Oct. 11) at the Decorah Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Alden H. Hovda will officiate. Pallbearers are George Bidne, Kenneth Ingvoldstad, Carsten Ingvoldstad, Marlin Grinna, Carl Svenson and David Svenson.

Mrs. Ransome Bolson will be organist and accompany the congregation as they sing hymns. The Luren Singing Society, of which Mr. Seim was a member, also will sing. Funeral arrangements are being made by Steine Funeral Home.

Mr. Seim was born December 17, 1887 in Voss, Norway where he received his education. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Anfin Seim. He came to the Decorah area at the age of 17 and returned here after homesteading in North Dakota and serving in the U.S. Army overseas during World War I. He was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and the World War I Barracks.

Mr. Seim is survived by three daughters: Ruth, Mrs. Ernest Steneroden, St. Paul, Minn., Kathryn, Mrs. Gina Souran, Troy, Mich. and Pauline Seim, Decorah; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Einar Seim and Olaf Seim, both of Norway, and four sisters, Margaret Seim, New Port Richey, Fla., and Guri Vethe, Ann Johnsrud and Inger Rodal, all of Norway.

Mr. Seim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, the former Sylvia Bidne, who died January 22, 1969. They were married April 9, 1920 at the Big Canoe Church.
