Mrs. Laura D. Sande, 73, of 408½ Washington Street, died August 17 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Dorchester and had lived her entire life in this area.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 20 at Decorah Lutheran Church with Pastor Alden H. Hovda conducting final rites. Burial was in the Burr Oak Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Fredrick Walter, Ricky Walter, Ronald Dehning, Daryl Dehning, Howard Sande and Lowell Dehning. Mrs. Otto Ruen was organist and accompanied the congregation as they sang hymns.
Funeral arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sande was born July 5, 1902 in Dorchester, Ia., the daughter of the late Herman and Frederika Dehning. She attended rural schools at Dorchester and was married November 25, 1925 in Decorah to Marvin Sande. He died March 22, 1974.
She is survived by two children, Mrs. Arthur (Mae) Walter, Canton, Minn. and Bernell Dehning of Decorah; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two sisters, Anna Anderson and Mrs. Vera Betts, both of Decorah.
Mrs. Sande was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church.
