HEADINGTON—At her home in Canoe township, on the 6th inst., after an illness of only 24 hours, BARBARA, wife of James Headington, aged 82 years.
Barbara Lepley was born in Butler township, Knox Co., Ohio, Sept. 6th, 1813. At the age of 17, deceased was married to John Hammel, to whom eight children were born, only three of whom survive. In 1855 she married James Headington, to whom one child was born, who died at the age of two years. In 1859, the deceased with husband and family moved to Canoe township, Winnesheik County, Iowa, where she has since resided until the time of her death.
Her funeral was held at the family residence, Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, where a very large number of friends were gathered to follow her to her last resting place.
