DIED—At his home in Madison township, June 18th, MITCHELL, DIBB, aged 70 yours, 3 months unit 23 days.
Mr, Dibb was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1825, but came to Canada with his parents when five years old. At 18 he entered the Canadian troop, and served six years. In the latter year the exciting events of the burning of Parliment House occurred. Of this Mr. D. was an eye witness. For its apathy in the defense of Lord Raglan the troop was disbanded, and Mr. Dibb at once removed to New York city, where he lived six years, and (in 1856) married Miss Lodicia Manning. His next home was in Southern Indiana, where for eight years he was railroading, acting as station agent, and in that period learned telegraphy. In 1856 he came to Iowa, bought the farm he has since worked. His wife and one son, George, survive. Kindly and genial by nature, he was thorougly respected by all who know him. His death resulted from a complication of heart and kidney difficulties that first manifested themselves in December last. From this ho in part recovered, but a relapse occurred two months ago. Funeral services will be held at his late home to-morrow afternoon, at 1 o’clock, and the remains will be interred in the Decorah cemetery.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Feb 2, 1825 and is buried in Phelps Cemetery
