Ira Hubbell Shoots Himself.
Canton Leader:—The startling tidings that Ira Hubbell had shot himself was circulated about town Friday, May 31st, and upon investigation it was found that it was indeed too true. He had been at work as usual all forenoon, and about twelve o’clock he locked the door to his shop and taking his boy’s rifle he sent a 32 calibre ball crashing through his brains. When found shortly afterwards he was unconscious and remained in that condition until about four o'clock in the afternoon when he died. The remains were buried at the Elliota cemetery Sunday, with Masonic honors, a large concourse of sorrowing friends being in attendance. Deceased was universally respected and his tragic ending has cast a gloom over the entire community.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1846.
