Sad Intelligence from Old Friends.
The friends in Decorah of Capt. and Mrs. Chas. George Baker were deeply pained, this week, to receive intelligence that their second son, Guy, died of cholera, in Upper Egypt, on the 27th of July, on the 10th day after attaining his 25th birthday. The young man had been in the Egyptian police service, and made so good a record that he had recently been promoted to the coast guard service, a more honorable and lucrative position. On this service he was in the desert with a camel train commanding eighteen men, when he was smitten. Attempts were made to get him back to civilization, but were only partially successful. Cholera had been very virulent, and in his case was swift and speedy.
Our old friend Capt. Baker, is now retired from the Egyptian army, living in London with the rank of General, and in good health.
