Died, in Canoe township, of consumption, Aug. 14th, 1893, CLEMENTINE JERVIS, aged 17 years, one month, 22 days.
This is the third daughter whose death it is the writer’s painful duty to record since Dec. 7th, 1892. Clasentine dying on the above date, Inas, a young woman, six months later. These were young women greatly respected. The family has our deepest sympathy. The writer in conversation with Miss Clementine during her sickness in the spring, remembers the remark she made concerning her going to school as soon as she got able: “Man proposed, God disposes.” In the school house so well known, for she had known no other place of receiving instruction, many were assembled to render as best they could a tribute of respect. After a few words from Rev. 14:13, we bore her remains to the Burr Oak cemetery.
Transcriber's Note: Her gravestone in Burr Oak Cemetery shows the name spelled Jerviss and that she was born June 22, 1876.
